Bodh Gaya, Bihar, December 2025 – The Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIMBG) successfully conducted the Management Development Programme (MDP) on Leadership and General Management for Batch 8 of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. Held from December 1 to December 6, 2025, this comprehensive 6-day programme brought together 20 doctors and senior healthcare professionals from IGIMS (Patna) for an immersive learning experience combining leadership development, strategic thinking, healthcare operations, digital transformation, finance, communication, and people management. This programme was envisioned under the guidance of the Honourable Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, Prof. Vinita Sahay, who strongly advocates the need for blending clinical expertise with managerial capabilities in healthcare institutions. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Pinaz Tiwari and Dr. Vishal Ashok Wankhede.
The MDP stands as an embodiment of IIM Bodh Gaya’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare delivery through capacity building, evidence-based decision-making, and holistic leadership development.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from IGIMS doctors, who engaged in insightful sessions, hands-on workshops, outbound learning activities, reflective practices, and collaborative exercises. This program demonstrates IIM Bodh Gaya’s commitment to building capacity in the public sector by equipping officials with essential skills and strategic insights to promote socioeconomic development across the state. This six-day program brings together experts from multiple disciplines, equipping participants with the strategic decision-making skills, service delivery strategies, and effective communication strategies necessary to succeed. The curriculum combines theoretical insights with practical applications, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of hospital management in dynamic environments.

Day 1 – Monday, 01 December 2025
Ice-breaking Session and Inauguration
The programme commenced with an ice-breaking session facilitated by Dr. Pinaz Tiwari and Dr Vishal A Wankhede, Programme Coordinators. The session helped participants interact, network, and establish a collaborative environment, thereby setting the tone for the week.
This was followed by a formal Inauguration Ceremony graced by the Honourable Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, Prof. Vinita Sahay, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for healthcare leaders. She emphasised how doctors today must integrate clinical excellence with managerial competencies to strengthen institutional effectiveness and patient-centric care. Following this, Prof. Amit Srivastava, Chairperson of Executive Education and Consultancy, emphasised the crucial role of management training in enhancing the administrative, analytical, and leadership capabilities of healthcare professionals. He emphasized that programmes like this MDP help medical practitioners broaden their perspective, adopt evidence-based managerial practices, and contribute more effectively to the governance and operational excellence of their institutions.

The first academic session on Mission, Vision, and Values by Prof. Vinita Sahay encouraged participants to reflect on institutional purpose, personal leadership philosophy, and value-driven decision-making in healthcare. This seamlessly transitioned into her next session on Personal Effectiveness and Principle-Centred Leadership, where she discussed the behavioural dimensions of leadership, strategic prioritisation, and self-governance in medical settings.
After lunch, Dr. Suresh K.G. conducted a detailed session on Impact Evaluation of Health Programs, familiarising participants with evaluation frameworks, outcome metrics, and evidencebased assessment in public health. The final session of the day, led by Dr. Ajith Tom James, focused on Six Sigma and Lean in Healthcare Operations, introducing data-driven quality improvement methods, process streamlining, and operational efficiency techniques. The day concluded with a campus tour, allowing participants to explore IIM Bodh Gaya’s academic facilities, learning environment, and the serene surroundings of the campus.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 02 December 2025
Day 2 commenced with a session on Personal Finance for Working Professionals by Dr. Ashish Sharma, who guided participants through the essentials of financial planning, wealth creation, risk management, and long-term financial security. The day progressed to a hands-on workshop on Data Visualisation conducted by Dr. Madan Lal in the Anukaran Computer Lab, where participants worked with healthcare data and learned to convert raw datasets into meaningful visual insights and dashboards.
After lunch, the afternoon featured an insightful session on Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence by Dr. Remya Lathabhavan, who emphasised the importance of emotional regulation, resilience, self-awareness, and mindful leadership in high-stress hospital environments. The last academic session of the day, conducted by Dr. Teena Bharti, focused on Team Building and Conflict Management, highlighting strategies to manage interpersonal challenges, foster collaboration, and maintain harmony within medical teams. The day ended with an unwind session consisting of indoor games, encouraging camaraderie and informal bonding among the participants.
Day 3 – Wednesday, 03 December 2025
The third day opened with an enriching session on Digital Transformation in Public Healthcare conducted by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, who discussed the role of digital ecosystems, telemedicine, health informatics, and electronic medical records in improving healthcare outcomes. This was followed by an impactful session led by Prof. Sajan P.K. on Managing Difficult Conversations, which helped participants navigate sensitive dialogues with patients, attendants, colleagues, and administrative stakeholders.
After the tea break, Dr. Pradeep Kumar returned for his second session on Medicolegal Issues and Approach, where he explained medico-legal responsibilities, documentation protocols, consent practices, patient rights, and legal safeguards in clinical practice. The final session of the day was delivered by Dr. Amresh Kumar on Using social media for Personal and Organisational Reputation, focusing on digital professionalism, responsible communication, and leveraging social media for public awareness and institutional credibility.
The day concluded with the Director’s Dinner, hosted by Honourable Director Prof. Vinita Sahay, where participants enjoyed cultural performances and interacted informally with faculty and peers in a warm, celebratory atmosphere.

Yoga Sessions
Each day of the programme began with a rejuvenating Yoga session conducted by Ms. Nitya, whose expert guidance provided participants with a refreshing and mindful start. Her sessions combined gentle stretching, breathing techniques, and relaxation practices designed to enhance physical flexibility, mental clarity, and emotional balance. These morning engagements not only helped participants manage stress and maintain energy throughout the intensive schedule but also created a calm, focused, and positive atmosphere for the day’s learning.
Day 4 – Thursday, 04 December 2025
Day 4 began with a comprehensive session on Strategic Performance Management through
Balanced Scorecard conducted by Dr. Deepika Gupta. She detailed how the Balanced Scorecard can be used to align organisational goals with strategic healthcare priorities across financial, operational, patient-centric, and learning dimensions. This was followed by a session on Hospital Service Operations by Dr. Chiranjit Das, who explained the complexity of hospital workflows, capacity utilisation, emergency handling, and service quality enhancement.
After lunch, participants attended an insightful session by Dr. Swapnarag S. on Designing PatientCentric Healthcare Delivery Systems, where they explored patient journey mapping, empathydriven design, and service innovation. In the evening, participants were taken for an outbound visit to a Vishnupad Temple and Mahabodhi Temple, UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering them an opportunity for reflection, experiential learning, and cultural immersion outside the classroom setting.
Day 5 – Friday, 05 December 2025
The fifth day commenced with a session on Analysing Financial Statements of Healthcare Companies by Dr. Archana Patro, who introduced participants to balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows, and financial ratios relevant to the healthcare industry. This was followed by a session on Leadership Application by Dr. Vittal Rangan S., who integrated leadership theories with practical challenges faced by doctors in supervisory and administrative roles.
After the break, Prof. Amit Srivastava conducted a session on Diagnostic Analysis for Administrative Problem Solving, where he presented structured analytical tools, process mapping techniques, and decision-making frameworks tailored to healthcare administration. The last session of the day was handled by Prof. Manoj Jaiswal on Managing Stakeholder Relationships, emphasising multi-stakeholder coordination, communication strategies, and trust-building within healthcare ecosystems. The day concluded with outdoor games and recreational activities, allowing participants to engage in relaxed teamwork and stress-free interaction.
Day 6 – Saturday, 06 December 2025
The final day began with a session on Experimental Methods for Health Program Evaluation led by Dr. Madhumita Das, who explained rigorous evaluation designs, randomised trials, quasiexperimental methods, and measurement frameworks applicable to public health interventions.
This was followed by a technologically enriched session on AI in Smart Healthcare by Dr.
Samant Saurabh, conducted in the Anukaran Computer Lab. Participants explored AI applications in diagnostics, predictive analytics, digital triaging, and machine learning models for healthcare innovation.
After lunch, participants engaged in a Project Discussion, reflecting on their learnings and discussing practical application strategies within their respective departments. This was followed by a Knowledge Sharing and Takeaways session, during which participants shared their insights, experiences, and expressed the value they derived from the week-long programme.
The program concludes with a Valedictory Session, in the presence of Prof. Amit Srivastava, Chairperson of Executive Education and Consultancy, and Programme Coordinators Dr Pinaz Tiwari and Dr Vishal Ashok Wankhede, who recognise participants’ achievements and provide a platform for them to reflect on their learning experiences.
