IIM Bodh Gaya — The Enlightening IIM
On 14th January 2020, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama gave IIM Bodh Gaya a new identity by unveiling the logo of the institute. This was a historic moment for the IIM which prides itself as “The Enlightening IIM” to have its logo adorned by the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The logo was designed by Chakradhar Saswade, Sr. Designer, Discipline Lead – Information Design, National Institute of Design, R&D Campus, Bengaluru.
The logo provides a visual identity to IIM Bodh Gaya, which combines the letters of its acronym and some symbolic images along with it. The identity carries some significant elements in it representing the location of Nalanda and the Bodh Gaya, where scholars from all over the world came and worked relentlessly for attainment and dissemination of knowledge. These images and elements complement and present a unique and beautiful image, one that conveys the layers of attributes of the premier institute of the country, an entity that is aware of its indispensable role in the development of the region.
The motto is in the Pali language, the language of Buddha’s teachings. It is taken from the ‘Dhammavani Sangrah’ by Shri S.N. Goyanka that has verses in the Pali with Hindi translation and is based on the ‘Tipitaka’ that constitutes the body of classical text of ‘Theravada Buddhism’.
In Hindi, this translates into:
“सभी मंगलमय घटनाओं के साक्षी बनें”
(Let all be witnesses of all good happenings).
